If they were so gross ...
This entry has gone and returned from South America. Jose Maria, a English priest who performs, among other projects, campaigns to prevent sexually transmitted diseases in Peru and Colombia relatively well known, sent two articles related to release Ingrid Betancourt to a English friend of mine for comment. My friend, occasional contributor to this area is fortunate to find not one but two Colombias. Let me explain. Her first visit to Colombia met the reality of our prisons within a health program for women prisoners and the next day was enjoying the spectacular views of a residential complex located in the middle of one of the best golf courses in the country. The times he has become unaccustomed to learn, visit and learn from each of these Colombias so different. Upon his return, as she tells me stories of what has been, I can not help but ask how many of the Colombians have the chance to meet these two realities? ...
That knowledge of the country believe that their opinion is interesting, as it does from the love of a land that is not hers and that the live intensely every time you visit, and care, speak no evil of Colombia in front of her!.

Well, very interesting the two letters you send. I forwarded it to Oscar, to give you his opinion as a Colombian.
I will tell you that I feel related to the first written to the demagogic blog entry. Caballero presents alternatives to the official version, which I think necessary and healthy. He cites a comment by Uribe, which attributed the rescue of the hostages "in light of the Holy Spirit and the protection of Our Lord and the Virgin in all its forms" and says it is "a miracle." With all due respect to religion, do not think those are the most appropriate words from the president in a situation like that. Is to tell the people what they want to hear, and it seems not serious. I do not know what the truth about how they came to the rescue but, as I said, I consider other options to raise healthy. It seems arrogant the defense minister says the plan was so daring that the guerrillas could not even imagine, implying that they are gross, the guerrillas, those individuals who have spent years in the bush without being able to kill them. not be so stupid, but are so brutal. Anyway, I like Knight because demystifies the "greatness" of Colombian institutions, if they really were so big and so bold, and also the guerrillas were so gross, have freed all the hostages and would have done with this terrible dynamic kidnappings and extortion. I think the real miracle would be to eliminate the extreme polarization of wealth in the countryside had not misery (due to those who live there are increasingly own their land and their lives ) and end this situation of misery and neglect and lack of education, family and social networks that favor the children go to the mountain to find what you are not at home. And they become, in part because of this, hijackers. And the mountain and drug trafficking become their way of life, because they were exposed to something better or strong enough to get him.

That speech, but I understand, I think children (rather adolescent). Under that standard, there would be NGOs, even some sectors of the church, fighting for a better world from his life of comfort. According to this idea, I myself am an impostor to mount a small NGO, considering that I have a comfortable life and easy and full bar sausage.
I think the world is wrong, it is not fair to speak of both Ingrid and not much talk about the other hostages, the anonymous soldiers and police, the ordinary people.
