If they were so gross ...

This entry has gone and returned from South America. Jose Maria, a English priest who performs, among other projects, campaigns to prevent sexually transmitted diseases in Peru and Colombia relatively well known, sent two articles related to release Ingrid Betancourt to a English friend of mine for comment. My friend, occasional contributor to this area is fortunate to find not one but two Colombias. Let me explain. Her first visit to Colombia met the reality of our prisons within a health program for women prisoners and the next day was enjoying the spectacular views of a residential complex located in the middle of one of the best golf courses in the country. The times he has become unaccustomed to learn, visit and learn from each of these Colombias so different. Upon his return, as she tells me stories of what has been, I can not help but ask how many of the Colombians have the chance to meet these two realities? ...

That knowledge of the country believe that their opinion is interesting, as it does from the love of a land that is not hers and that the live intensely every time you visit, and care, speak no evil of Colombia in front of her!.

The two links to which this friend of mine are: Antonio An article in the journal Knight week following the rescue of the hostages and a blog post the real life of a manager which became a "forward" on the Internet and until today had 180 comments!.

Thanks for your company.

****** Hello, Jose Maria!

Well, very interesting the two letters you send. I forwarded it to Oscar, to give you his opinion as a Colombian.

I will tell you that I feel related to the first written to the demagogic blog entry. Caballero presents alternatives to the official version, which I think necessary and healthy. He cites a comment by Uribe, which attributed the rescue of the hostages "in light of the Holy Spirit and the protection of Our Lord and the Virgin in all its forms" and says it is "a miracle." With all due respect to religion, do not think those are the most appropriate words from the president in a situation like that. Is to tell the people what they want to hear, and it seems not serious. I do not know what the truth about how they came to the rescue but, as I said, I consider other options to raise healthy. It seems arrogant the defense minister says the plan was so daring that the guerrillas could not even imagine, implying that they are gross, the guerrillas, those individuals who have spent years in the bush without being able to kill them. not be so stupid, but are so brutal. Anyway, I like Knight because demystifies the "greatness" of Colombian institutions, if they really were so big and so bold, and also the guerrillas were so gross, have freed all the hostages and would have done with this terrible dynamic kidnappings and extortion. I think the real miracle would be to eliminate the extreme polarization of wealth in the countryside had not misery (due to those who live there are increasingly own their land and their lives ) and end this situation of misery and neglect and lack of education, family and social networks that favor the children go to the mountain to find what you are not at home. And they become, in part because of this, hijackers. And the mountain and drug trafficking become their way of life, because they were exposed to something better or strong enough to get him.

Finally, the real miracles would be others, not liberation, which I very much welcome.

regard to the blog post, it seems unfair. Understand his rage, but the statement seems simplistic and demagogic. According to their way of seeing things, no one living comfortably have the right to fight for a better world. Ingrid about social justice from his luxurious Paris apartment ... while the foot soldiers have to do magic to survive ... and eat a sausage. That speech, but I understand, I think children (rather adolescent). Under that standard, there would be NGOs, even some sectors of the church, fighting for a better world from his life of comfort. According to this idea, I myself am an impostor to mount a small NGO, considering that I have a comfortable life and easy and full bar sausage.

I think the world is wrong, it is not fair to speak of both Ingrid and not much talk about the other hostages, the anonymous soldiers and police, the ordinary people. In this I fully agree with the author of the blog. But since the world is ill-posed, we will take advantage of that and take advantage of the situation. Ingrid unfairly "single" star, has the capacity media that has no Colombian walk to raise awareness of the problem of Colombia. And because of their particular view of things, has the ability (and responsibility) to show the world what is happening in Colombia, which is not only what the State want to display. not only the kidnapping of the demons of the FARC, many other things, are the corruption of government, their links with paramilitaries, are one and the other atrocities they do. not only one side, but all three sides, as the army itself has been involved in acts which should not be proud. As in the Communities of Peace, to be neutral and non-state guerrillas and paramilitaries, but they do not want the "protection" of the army or the state. As the paramilitaries and, according to inhabitants of communities, also the army, are assassinating their leaders, people who are against weapons and violence. According to Amnesty International, to 2007 160 people were killed in a single Community of Peace.

Colombia is complicated, I quite understand just a little bit, I have the luck to see it through a Colombian who loves his country and I have caught that feeling.
do not think anyone has the solution for this beautiful country, although I have met a great couple of Colombians who have given me much hope about it, and I'd like to clone ....(!!)

But I think that the solution is not only by armies and security and, of course, does not pass through the miracles and the light of the Holy Spirit, even that comfort the Colombian walk.

Perhaps a bold comment on Colombia from my comfortable Europe and Spain, which also begin to criminalize those who do not come this old continent. I would say that, rather than the old continent, Europe is beginning to be old (and with Alzheimer's!).

My shame for it. Hortensia

PUNTA SECA

- drypoint The term describes the technique of scratching or directly touching the surface of a metal plate (copper, zinc, aluminum ) or plastic (mica, acrylic, CD), with a sharp steel tip (needle, compass points, etc)

- The steel tip-resistant metal, draw lines that leave their sides lifted chunks of metal, called burrs, which are above the surface.

- Burrs are those that hold the ink in the printing process.

- The roughness of the burrs represent the characteristic feature of drypoint, constitute a continuous veil different tones and give a velvety appearance inimitable.

- The number of copies can be obtained with this technique is limited due to the burr wears quickly with the pressure of the press, the inking and cleaning. should therefore be avoided state tests.

- The line depth is directly dependent on the pressure with steel tip.

- The dashed lines can be degraded by scraping and burnishing subtly burrs carefully. Fine lines generated light gray tones, and the thicker the dark.

- The pure drypoint has traditionally been considered a technique of drawing in the sense that it invites the spontaneous stroke rather than the methodical definition or decorative lines.

- Drypoint is a direct technique, the acid is not involved, so you can work directly from nature.

- The first use of drypoint dates from the fifteenth century, with the anonymous artist "Master of the Amsterdam Cabinet or Master of 1480" . But especially in the work of Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528) and even more in the Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669), which reaches the peak of perfection. Later employed artists like James McNeill Whistler , Muirhead Bone, Emil Nolde, Augusta Rodin, Edvard Munch, Pierre Bonnard, Max Beckmann, Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro, Marc Chagall, Lovis Corinth, Jacques Villon, among others.
